[FGO] Peacocks are adorable

I would like to add a clarification to those who misunderstood that King Ashoka killed a lot of peacocks to get the feather ornament he wears at FGO fes.

Summary for busy people:
1: If you want peacock feathers, just wait for them to shed at the end of the annual breeding season.  You don’t have to hurt them!
2: Maybe it’s not a real peacock, maybe it’s just a shape of his Spirit.
3: Maybe it’s elaborate lacework woven to look just like a real peacock.

It is true that the import of peacock feathers from India is restricted by the Washington Convention. Capturing wild individuals is prohibited in India and is protected by law.

However, this is due to an imbalance between supply and demand, resulting in problems of killing and poaching*1, not because peacocks must be killed to obtain their feathers.

Peacock feathers are shed in July and re-grow the following March. If you want an ornamental feather, all you have to do is ask the bird to share it with you when the breeding season is over. Having an ornamental feather does not equal killing the original bird.*2,*3

In the first place, peacock feathers with gold on a white background like this one do not exist in reality.

If it was not a real peacock feather, it might have been a Dress made of his respect for the masters who had walked for 10 years, or it might have been a lace-like artifact that resembled a feather.

This is because it is difficult to put together such a large feather,  for the feather shaft is quite stiff and the feather petals will be damaged if you forcefully fiddle with them.

Since this can only be an unofficial explanation, I will not draw a definite conclusion, but if you are really concerned about it, I would appreciate it if you would adopt one of the following two options: – it is made of his own Spirit, so there is no living bird involved, or it is made of highly complicated lace, so it is not feathers in the first place… Of course, it would also be fine if you can dream up an unrealistic peacock that exists somewhere in the world and drops all of its feathers at the end of the breeding season. I myself have not made up my mind.

Whichever the case, rest assured that there is no poor peacock or poor Washington Convention, and you can enjoy your celebration with him.
